What is your shipping policy?

Orders typically ship out Tuesday - Thursday. All orders will be shipped within one week of purchase. Please contact us directly if you have expedited shipping needs.

Is there a local PICKUP option when ordering beans online?

Starting July 12th, 2024, you can select the option for local PICKUP in our online “shop” (service available during regular business hours at two locations: Spella Caffè @ Alder Street and Pronto Gelato). While “checking out” search the drop-down menu under “delivery methods.” The shop locations and finer details are listed on the drop-down menu at checkout. For your convenience, please also review the pickup guidelines below.

NOTE: The PICKUP option cannot be used with coffee subscriptions.

PICKUP GUIDELINES: 

Please notify us at least 1 week in advance with any changes to your order amount/location/roast.

If the pickup option is selected, it cannot later be changed to delivery by mail if the customer is unavailable to pick it up. 

Subscriptions charged weekly must be picked up weekly. 

Dated bags not picked up on time are not able to be replaced with fresher bags.

If you come in earlier than the pickup day, bags are unable to be replaced with stock on hand at the caffès.

There will be no pickup reminders (unless as a courtesy, you have two weeks’ worth of bags waiting for you). 

Unfortunately, after 3 weeks, bags will be discarded with no refund. :(

How should I store my coffee?

We suggest that you keep your Spella coffee in an air-tight container (like a mason jar), in a cool, dry place (never a refrigerator or freezer).

Our coffee beans have a really impressive shelf life, and we find that — if stored correctly — they are delicious up to 3-4 weeks after their roast date.

How do I update my subscription?

If you need to make a one-time change to your subscription (skip a shipment, update your address) please email us and we’ll take care of it.

If you would like to change the quantity, frequency, or type of coffee you receive, please cancel your current subscription and set up a new one.

How do I cancel my subscription?

  1. Sign into your account

  2. Click on “my account” and select “subscriptions”

  3. Click on the subscription you’d like to cancel

  4. Select “cancel subscription”

You’ll receive an email confirmation that your subscription has been cancelled.

How should I brew my coffee?

While we think Spella coffee is good brewed any way, our preferred method is the stove-top moka pot — we even made a step-by-step guide for making this espresso at home!

How do I order wholesale?

We’re very proud to be part of the fine dining and food communities of Portland! We take our partnerships with local vendors to heart, and invest time in sharing not only our coffee, but also our insight.

Will shipping during the holidays be delayed?

Because our orders increase over the holiday season, please be mindful that there may be production and shipping delays through the new year.
