New Year, New Brew!
Ciao! Happy 2025!
We are thrilled to announce our new DAILY hours (9-3:30pm) at our Woodblock location starting Monday, January 27th!
Monday January 13th, we warmly welcome back João Marcos Espresso as our main bean on bar at Alder for this season! This beloved crop hails from the traditional coffee region of Campos Das Vertentes, Sul De Minas, Brazil.
You can read more about the region, traditional growing methods, and family farm history in our previous João Marcos blog post here. Each annual crop carries a different flavor profile, and this year’s bean notes are described by our head roaster as dried tart cherry, churros, and chocolate- an exquisite taste of the culture!
Spella’s Signature Espresso typically consists of a Brazilian heavy blend of beans, but this year's crop of João Marcos confidently stands on its own as a truly expressive and complex espresso. Rich and full-bodied, João Marcos evokes the buttery sweet delight of dipping churros in chocolate with balancing notes of tart cherry. João Marcos exudes an enchanting aroma and comforting and complex flavor that will immerse you in the vibrant and breathtaking landscapes of Brazil.
We primarily suggest João Marcos as espresso. It also shines in a Moka pot, Melitta pour-over, and Aeropress.
This dynamic Brazilian bean of Santo Antonio do Amparo contains all the quintessential complexity Spella desires in producing the finest traditional Italian espresso. It dazzles the palate like a decadent dessert flowing with rich and buttery velvety crema. Just wait until you taste it paired with our Stracciatella or Gianduja gelato! We can hardly wait to share this extraordinary espresso with you!
